"This is a quartet that has a strong personal voice and vision ... passionate musicians that approach their work as artists in society with a mature seriousness and purpose."

Barry Shiffman, Director
Banff International String Quartet Competition

Winners of the 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022, the New York City-based Isidore String Quartet was formed in 2019 with a focus to revisit, rediscover, and reinvigorate the repertory.

The quartet is heavily influenced by the Juilliard String Quartet and the idea of "approaching the established as if it were new, and the new as if it were firmly established." The name Isidore recognizes this musical connection to the Juilliard String Quartet: one of the group’s early members was legendary violinist Isidore Cohen.

The quartet will provide an afternoon master class at Western Michigan University's Dalton Center Recital Hall from 2:00 – 3:00pm on Friday, December 2. The ensemble will also engage in a post-concert onstage discussion following their evening performance.

Tickets purchased for the St. Lawrence String Quartet performance scheduled for this date will be honored for this event. We will also offer an exchange for another concert this season, provide a refund, or we will accept as a donation. Please call (269) 250-6984 if you have any questions.
