Fontana proudly opens the 2014-15 season with the return of the incomparable Emerson String Quartet.

With an unparalleled list of achievements, including more than thirty recordings, nine Grammys®, three Gramophone Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize, Musical America’s “Ensemble of the Year”, and collaborations with many of the greatest artists of our time, the Emerson String Quartet truly stands apart.

In their own words

“I think the reason we’ve lasted is that our standards are incredibly high and we’re constantly working to improve. I’ve never felt that anyone has been complacent.” said violinst Philip Setzer.

Paul Watkins, the newest member of the Quartet, who joined in 2013 described his Quartet-mates as “absolute masters of their instruments, with phenomenally high standards. There’s no compromise in what they play.”
