Emmanuel Pahud & Christian Rivet
Sat, November 21, 2015 at 8:00 pm
Dalton Center Recital Hall, Western Michigan University
In 1992, at the age of 22, Emmanuel Pahud joined the Berlin Philharmonic as Principal Flute under Claudio Abbado, a position that he still holds today. In addition to his engagements with the Berlin Philharmonic, he enjoys an extensive international career as soloist and chamber musician.
This dazzling program travels across four continents and three centuries with the virtuosity and imaginative flair that are the hallmarks of his playing.
Joining him is guitarist and composer Christian Rivet, and together they will present transcriptions and original works that tap into ancient cultures of expression through sound and music in order to, as Pahud remarks, “liberate ourselves from the everyday.”
Open masterclass with Mr. Pahud on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 4:00pm at the Dalton Center Recital Hall. Reservations are suggested, please call Fontana at 269.382.7774.
In their own words
“The creators are showing us the way,” says Pahud. “Sometimes they show us the way we want to go and other times a way we don’t want to go, but they always move us forward as artists and the audience as listeners.”
“Mastery of an instrument helps you to sense new barriers. This is where you keep music moving.”
